D&R Axum

clcik to enlarge

Imagine a console where you can determine what a switch/encoder or fader will do for you. Not possible?.
With the AXUM this is possible and... you can do that yourself by selecting a function out of hundreds of functions simply selectable from a database.
Actually it is you who decides how the functionality of the mixer will be and this unique concept is a D&R first.

The MambaNet protocol controls the communication between all system parts linked to each other with world standard Ethernet.
It gives such an enormous freedom in system solutions so we hardly can imagine that your needs can not be met with the AXUM.

SYSTEM OVERVIEW

You can start with a small desktop 4 fader control desk and it can grow, when the need arises, up to 128 motorized faders and related switches/controls. You can even hook up, several 4 fader units to one I/O rack sharing in and outputs and DSP power.
Every DSP card can process 32 stereo channels, controlled from different control surfaces if needed.
The Audio matrix in the FPGA routes the audio signals between Audio In/Out and DSP In/Out but… also between the different DSPs.
So it is possible to bring, for instance, the Prog bus output to a channel input and the direct out of that special channel to the audio-output.
In this way it is possible to make a master fader with EQ and Dynamics.

The Axum is a fully digital modular desktop mixer using the latest, state of the art digital technology.
A nice looking modular control surface is combined with intelligent programmable digital functions.
Customizing for your station or personal requirements has never been that easy.
Hardware purchasing choices are straightforward: there are two 19” I/O Racks that can accept a maximum of 21 or 42 I/O single slot cards.
A Broadcast UI control surface starts with 4 faders as a minimum and can be extended to a maximum of 128 motorized faders plus master section.

At the moment there are 3 Frame sizes to choose from.
Frame-10 for 8 faders + master,
Frame 14 for 12 faders + master.
Frame 18 for 16 faders + master.

Each individual control surface frame can be mounted drop through in a work surface left or right of your script space.
A software Meter application can eventually run directly from the Control Surface, but also from any PC in the mnetwork.
Also hardware meters can be connected in the network very easily anywhere thanks to the MambaNet protocol.

Two 19" I/O Rack s are available; RACK ONE with 21 slots to accept Cards and RACK TWO with 42 slots to accept I/O cards
A constantly growing number of I/O cards is available to choose from.

A large I/O matrix of 1280 x1280 in and outputs is available for any possible interconnection.
All in and outgoing signals are connected to an I/O card of your choice, that is inserted in the I/O Rack.
The internal Matrix in the I/O rack connects by way of simple software addressing where the signal is routed to.
Once your AXUM is programmed exactly how you want it to perform, no PC is needed anymore to run the desk.
It then behaves like a dedicated hardware mixer and can powered on or off without any software programming.
All controls are on the UI (Users Interface)

We have incorporated a new way of interfacing with studio equipment by use of high quality low cost readily available STP cable, also called shielded RJ45 Ethernet cable, see breakout boxes below to choose from.

An internally generated webpage allows you to remotely control all settings anywhere over Ethernet and /or Internet.

SYSTEM STRUCTURE

This Frame 14 drawing is a schematic display of the interfacing between
control surface, 19" processor rack and
19" connector panels.

Connector panels are purchased
fully dependable upon the need of the studio.

FLEXIBLE CONTROL SURFACE

The switches on the channel-strip are software assigned to a function.
There is no standard in the channel-strip setup.
For instance the ‘ON’ Switch can be above or below the fader.
Any Control surface switch can do anything you want it to do, but… to not confuse you we have programmed a factory default assignment that represents the working procedures of the average Radio Studio.
Switches have long life dual colour LED’s. So every active function is clearly shown.
The basic desktop frames are built to use as a drop through frame in a furniture surface.
It can accept 2, 3 or 4 pcs of 4 faders sections, or 2 pcs of 4 fader sections and 1 master sections (CRM/STUDIO) plus master blind.
With two frames (script space in the middle) you can have a maximum of 32 faders with master section.
If more faders are needed larger frame sizes are available upon request to achieve the maximum of 128 faders (controllable stereo channels) this design can handle.
