Nx Talkshow Systems:
The Nx family of Talkshow Systems is setting new standards for studio telephone interface systems. The latest generation of hybrid technology and processing by Omnia results in the cleanest, most consistent call quality ever.
Nx Talkshow Systems have multiple advanced digital hybrids, each with its own AGC, noise gate, and caller override dynamics using carefully-tuned DSP algorithms. Each also includes DDEQ, a sophisticated multi-band equalizer, which analyzes and adjusts received audio spectral characteristics so that calls sound smooth and consistent despite today’s wide variety of phone sets and connection paths. Exclusive to Telos Systems, the hybrids incorporate special echo cancellation for tricky VoIP and cellular calls as well as adaptive function that reduces the possibility for feedback in open speaker applications.
The Nx6 is the compact 6-line version of the Nx12, designed to give smaller studios a powerful edge with their telephone interface system. Inside both Nx6 and Nx12 are four advanced digital hybrids, each with its own AGC, noise gate, and caller override dynamics using carefully-tuned DSP algorithms. Each also includes DDEQ, a sophisticated multi-band equalizer, which analyzes and adjusts audio spectral characteristics from all varieties of phone sets and connection paths so calls sound smooth and consistent. The Nx6/Nx12 hybrids also incorporate special echo cancellation for tricky VoIP and cellular calls. The possibility for feedback in open speaker applications is virtually eliminated thanks to an adaptive function unique to Telos.
Choose analog or ISDN telephone lines by ordering your Nx with appropriate Telco interface modules. The Nx12 connects to as many as 12 analog POTS telephone lines or up to 6 ISDN BRI lines (which would provide 12 caller channels). The Nx6 connects to 6 lines. A digital switch matrix inside connects the lines to hybrids.
The Nx6 and Nx12 are packaged with the Desktop Director control surface. Talent and producers benefit from proprietary Telos features designed to make their lives easier, such as our exclusive Status Symbol visual call management icons that clearly show line and caller status.
Telos third-generation control surfaces including Call Controller and Console Director also work with the Nx6/Nx12.
Both Nx packages include Telos’ Assistant Producer call screening software, which may be used locally or over any IP network. Livewire audio-over-IP technology is also supported with the Nx6 / Nx12 Ethernet network connection.
With its four hybrids, two Program-on-Hold inputs, and two sets of analog I/O, the Nx6 can serve one studio with one or two phone faders and high-quality conferencing for up to four callers. (More are possible, but without individual hybrids and processing.) The Nx12 is better suited for a two-studio mode to handle the telephone needs for two stations simultaneously. With its four inputs and outputs, the optional AES interface module offers direct access to the individual hybrids.
Since the Ethernet connection can support a large number of channels, direct access to the individual hybrids is also possible in a Livewire-equipped studio. An Axia Element console can control the Nx6/Nx12 over the network with either the Call Control Module for the traditional Telos two-column operation style or Europhone Modules for a fader-per-hybrid operating style. (It is also possible to access the four hybrids via a Livewire Node.)
In a Livewire networked system, one Ethernet RJ-45 connects all necessary signals: up to four hybrid inputs, four hybrid outputs, two Program-on-Hold inputs, and all needed control.
You can connect up to eight control surfaces, with the Nx6/Nx12 directly powering as many as four. Optional external power supplies provide power for long cable runs or additional controllers. (The Extended Desktop Director counts as a single device, but consumes the power of two.)
